We are now two weeks into language school! Because we have two small children, a language tutor has been coming to the house for two hours each afternoon to help teach us Creole. A nanny is able to watch the girls for us at the house while we are with the language tutor and also for a couple hours following our class. So far our class is going very well! As with learning any new language, it takes time. Many days Dustin & I spend over 8 hours studying: 3-4 hours in the morning, 2 hours with the tutor in the afternoon, and then 2-3 more hours after our class. At the end of the day our brains are exhausted! We know that the work we are doing now will pay off in the long run. Plus, we actually find it fun to learn new words and phrases!
Our girls seem to be adjusting well to our new routine. The family we are living with in Port-au-Prince has four young girls. Each morning when Ainsley wakes up she immediately asks if she can go play with her friends. She spends most of her time outdoors playing on a swing set with the girls. Piper is starting to be on the move! She is now up on her hands and knees and is figuring out how to get from point A to point B. Her sleeping has regressed some - I am back up with her 2-3 times a night. Over all, the girls are doing just fine and enjoying our new "normal."
Today we are headed to a youth leaders convention in Titanye. They are expecting close to 200 youth leaders to attend the convention, where they will learn how to have a quiet time, mentor young people, etc. We will be spending the night at the conference and then returning home tomorrow afternoon/evening. Please join us in praying that the next six days will be instrumental in raising up youth leaders for the future generations. We are praying that the spirit of The Lord would be upon the speakers, that the youth leaders would be open to the Holy Spirit's leading, and that God would be glorified!
