We have had an exciting week this week due to water! Water is something we took for granted when living in the states. Once we moved to Haiti, that quickly changed. Haiti has a large problem with water. Most of the water in country is contaminated. Part of the briefing we give people who are staying at our house once they arrive is to not drink or brush your teeth with the water from the sinks/showers/etc.... It is 110% non potable water. All the water we have to drink is water that I myself BUY in 5 gallon containers and put in igloos for drinking. This can be quite the process of loading up the 20-5 gallon containers we have into the truck, driving into town exchanging/buying them, driving back and unloading them. This can be very costly and time consuming...until this week. A few friends of ours are part of a NPO that sells Bio-Sand filters at next to no cost. We purchased two and LOVE them already.
We also got to celebrate Ainsley's 5th birthday (several times) this month! As a family we got to go swim and enjoy a wonderful day together. Ainsley says thank you to all those who wished her a happy birthday. You all sure can make a girl feel special that far away!
