This past weekend we headed out to speak at a church in New Braunfels, TX. Dayspring Christian Fellowship invited us to come share during their morning worship service. The focus for the Sunday morning service was on missions - we love being able to share our story whenever a church is giving a message on missions! Traveling in the car with two small children can be quite the adventure. :) Trips that usually take 4 hours turn into 5-6 hours! We made sure to stop often & enjoy ourselves on the drive down. The overcast weather put a damper on our original plan of stopping at the zoo in Waco. Instead of the zoo we found ourselves at the Mayborn Museum Complex - Ainsley LOVED the discovery rooms & Weebles Coast-to-Coast exhibit! We loved meeting everyone at Dayspring and adding more people to our prayer & financial team!

As most of you know, last week I wrote a Facebook status about trying to reach our first financial goal of 25% funded by March 1st. At first I hesitated even putting a status up about it but something kept prompting me to do it. I was worried that if I put the status out there, people would ask if we had achieved the goal. If we did it - then we would have great news to share! If not - we would have to tell everyone that the goal hadn't been met. It may be silly to say, but I felt vulnerable when I wrote the status....and that is a feeling I don't like. Monday morning (March 1st) we learned that the finance reporting was down & might not be up and going until March 10th. That only added to the suspense of whether our goal had been met. Wednesday (March 5th) morning I attended a mom's group bible study at our church. One of the things we have been praying about in mom's group is our funding. I updated our prayer notecard by writing down that we were at 21%. After I came home from bible study we started getting the emails. The finance reporting was back up & running! First there was just one email, then two, then four, etc. Our inbox was flooded with new financial partners. Some faith promises we had been expecting for a while, and others came in that weren't even on our radar. I sat at the computer and almost cried. A college student working part-time, a church member from a church we spoke at weeks ago, a young married couple, family members who we hadn't even asked face-to-face....those are just a few of the people who joined our team over the past week. Yet another reminder of just how out of control I am and how IN control God is. By Wednesday evening we were 28% funded and even more emails came in Thursday morning. As of March 9th we are 34% funded!! I have to remind myself that sometimes it is ok to be vulnerable. Sometimes we will meet our goals and sometimes we won't. But guess what? God is still in control. Jesus doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. |
