The first thing I realized is that climbing a mountain takes time and careful planning. That's when I realized that what we are doing as an organization in Haiti cannot be accomplished in a short period of time. Deep and meaningful relationships with Haitians and the national church in Haiti has been in full swing since before Haiti entered our lives and will be in full swing long after we leave. Growth takes time and can be difficult. It can even be frustrating & discouraging at times. God has given me peace that although the 'mountain' of growth may be difficult, it is a mountain worth the climb and for His glory.
The second thing I realized is how hard it is to climb a mountain. It is no easy task. Yes there will be issues, hard times and moments that satan will attempt to bring us back down the mountain, BUT no matter how small the mountain or how big the mountain, I know the end of the story. God wins. BOOM!! When we are given the opportunity to rely on Him, we get to stand on top of that 'mountain' and see the beautiful view that God himself painted.
This past week we had the wonderful privilege to be back in Haiti and meet a few of the people we will be doing life with for years to come. The missionaries in Haiti with Global Partners could not be a more diverse, unique, wonderful, exciting and Godly group of people. We are extremely blessed to have this group around us while in Haiti 'climbing the mountains' that God has called us to climb.
